Most people in the world are right handed. In olden times being left handed was not regarded well since it was associated with evil, wrong doings or immorality. But with times, these impressions have changed and there are many famous personalities who have made a place for themselves in the books of history for their achievements in spite of being left-handed.

Some such personalities, who have been presidents of the US are:

• James Garfield (1831 to 1881): He was the twentieth president of the US who served in the office for 200 days from 4 March 1881 to 19 September 1881 when he was assassinated.

• Herbert Hoover (1874 to 1964): He was the thirty-first president who served from 4 March 1929 to 4 March 1933.

• Harry. S. Truman (1884 to 1972): Truman was the thirty-third US president. He served in office from 12 April 1945 to 20 January 1953.

• Gerald Ford (1913 to 2006): He was the thirty-eighth US president. He served in office from 9 August 1974 to 20 January 1977.

• Ronald Reagan (1911 to 2004): Reagan was an actor prior to joining politics. He went on to become the fortieth US president who served in office from 20 January 1981 to 20 January 1989.

• George H W Bush: Born in 1924, Bush Sr. was the forty-first US president who served in office from 20 January 1989 to 20 January 1993.

• Bill Clinton: Born in 1946, he was the forty-second president who served in the office from 20 January 1993 to 20 January 2001.

• Barack Obama: Born in 1961, he is the current and 44th president. He is also the first African-American to become the president of the US.
